In January, the Merchant Land team were pleased to virtually attend Knight Frank’s ‘Speaking Frankly: The 2022 Property Market’ Webinar which addressed the impacts Covid regulations had on the property market. This ‘New Normal’ has significantly impacted supply and demand within the sector.
David Mumby, Regional Partner working across Prime Central London, mentions that Covid has massively impacted the London letting market which is reflected in the amount of stock entering the market 18 months ago. The collapse of the short-term letting market led to a huge oversupply and lower rents but as nerves and regulations ease, “markets are recovering and demand is picking up”. David predicts 2022 to be the busiest year on record.
