TechWest London
Merchant Land was pleased to attend the first TechWest London event for 2019 – Reshaping industries and stopping climate change with blockchain. TechWest.London helps build connections within West London’s tech and creative community, provide support in filling infrastructure gaps where required, and ensure the sector is recognised for its national contribution and global success.
The event was hosted by West London Business and Upstream. The discussion was kicked off by Andrew Dakers, West London Business, and Kieran O’Shea, Huckletree West.
Speakers included:
Alecia Esson, Founder and Director, Nxsteps Group Ltd (Chair)
Derek Myers, Director, Zero Carbon Project
Oliver Bolton, CEO, Almond.org
Khushnama Davar, Director, Trade Product Management, HSBC
Sukhi Jutla, Founder and COO, MarketOrders
The discussion began with a short video explaining what blockchain is – you can watch it here.
Speakers touched on a number of applications of blockchain, including for ‘smart’ contracting, demonstrating the authenticity of supply chains, and simplifying transactions. Blockchain can also be used to measure carbon usage and reward suppliers and consumers for reducing their carbon footprint.
Merchant Land welcomed the opportunity to hear more about the importance of blockchain and how it can be transformational for business and consumers, while also supporting the environment.
