Bringing the digital revolution to the property sector
Merchant Land welcomes last week’s announcement from the Housing Minister, Esther McVey, on plans to bring a ‘digital revolution to the property sector.’ This drive towards the great availability of planning data will support both communities and house builders across the country.
It’s now time for the UK property market to embrace the digital revolution in the way that financial services and other industries have. And more broadly, new technologies will have a key role to play – linking developers to brownfield sites more easily, supporting engagement with local communities, modernising how we buy and sell and, and reducing the time from site purchase, to planning, to having properties that people can move into.
This also has the potential to open up the sector to a wider range of SMEs, using tech and data to find and appraise sites and support the planning process, saving time and money, and improving how the sector engages with local communities.
