Art and fashion collide at Charlotte Street

We’ve had a busy summer at Charlotte Street, continuing our pop-up series offering exciting independent brands space to showcase their collections in one of London’s creative hotspots.

Vintimie joined us in June with its carefully curated selection of shoes, bags and clothing by the likes of Fendi, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Its vintage and pre-loved pieces are hand-checked and authenticated, offering a more sustainable, affordable option to sate those sartorial cravings.

Fashion was followed by art later that month, with Ricky Leaver Picture Gallery showcasing his London cityscapes and British landscape pieces from Merchant House. A fine art photographer, Ricky’s work is a mixture of modern bright and timeless black and white, each piece limited edition.

This week new clothing brand All from Fern Handmade has made the shop its home until 19 August, displaying its handmade designs to like-mind creative young women and offering founder Fern Andrews the chance to meet some of her 70k Instagram fans in the flesh. Fern built her brand using her considerable social media nous, with All from Fern featured by Cosmopolitan and sold by Boohoo.

Katherine McCullough said: “Charlotte Street is the ideal location for these exciting up-and-coming young brands to showcase their collections. Fitzrovia has long been known for its creativity and lively buzz, and Merchant House offers a beautiful space to really show off their pieces, whether fashion, jewellery or art. We’re pleased to be able to support the fashion and creative community and look forward to working with more brands over the summer.”

Merchant House occupies a key location in London’s Fitzrovia. Merchant Land preserved and restored the building’s original Victorian façade, creating eight new apartments plus ground floor commercial space for independent brands. It is now home to Casual Fitters, with one unit remaining.
