With its elegant Victorian town houses situated amid the buzz of the West End, Charlotte Street is a highly sought after address.
Merchant Land acquired three adjacent buildings located at 61, 63 and 65 Charlotte Street in 2014 and gained planning permission in January 2016. The existing poorly maintained buildings will make way for eight stylish apartments over five storeys. Ground level has been set aside for commercial space which has been earmarked for independent retailers.
Designed by local architects Studio Dowie, the original Victorian façade of this townhouse has been preserved despite a substantial overhaul inside and a new courtyard. New offices to the rear will be home to Merchant Land.
Charlotte Street provides a good example of our innovative approach and our ability to overcome obstacles. The premises sat empty after planning consent was declined, but we were able to think laterally about to promoting it and eventually got the go-head for development.
This project will deliver an economic boost to the neighbourhood, creating extra jobs and attracting new residents.
